OPENING CEREMONY AND COCKTAIL RECEPTION(13 May 2012)
The opening ceremony will be held on Sunday, 13 May, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Convention Halls A+B+C. The Secretary for the Environment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will be the Guest of Honor. Dignitaries from the four organizing organization’s will be introduced. Special performances will start the conference and a cocktail reception will be held to welcome delegates. The Cocktail Reception will be held in the Convention Foyer from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
CONCERT AND PUPPET SHOW(14 May 2012)
A concert titled “Bioluminescence and the Dream World–A Puppet and Electroacoustic Music Performance” will be performed on Monday afternoon, 14 May, at 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. in Theatre 1. Each performance is one hour long. Bioluminescent underwater creatures will emerge from the murky depths and a giant spider will dance across her colorful web. A puppeteer will play the Native American flute while performing a dance with a Kokopelli puppet. A skeleton will cast a spell over a Theremin cauldron invoking a host of ghosts from the shadows. This concert features original electroacoustic music by Lydia Ayers incorporating synthesis of Asian and Western musical instruments. In addition, there will be three puppeteers, and three live musicians will accompany the music synthesis on acoustic instruments.
STUDENT RECEPTION (14 May 2012)
A Students’ Reception will be held on Monday, 14 May, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Convention Foyer. This reception will be sponsored by the Acoustical Society of America, the Acoustical Society of China, the Western Pacific Acoustics Conference, and the Hong Kong Institute of Acoustics. It will provide an opportunity for students to meet informally with fellow students and other members of the four organizing organizations. All students are encouraged to attend.
EUROPEAN RESEARCH COUNCIL (PRESENTATION/WORKSHOP) (15 May 2012)
European Research Council will hold a workshop/presentation on Tuesday, 15 May, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Theatre 1.

European Research Council (ERC) grants support individual researchers of any nationality and age who wish to pursue their frontier research. In particularly, the ERC encourages proposals that cross disciplinary boundaries, pioneering ideas that address new and emerging fields and applications that introduce unconventional, innovative approaches
WOMEN IN ACOUSTICS LUNCHEON (16 May 2012)
The Women in Acoustics luncheon will be held on Wednesday, 16 May, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Dynasty Club (located in the same complex as the Convention Center at Southwest Tower, Convention Plaza, 1 Harbour Rd.).
PLENARY SESSION AND AWARDS CEREMONY (16 May 2012)
The Plenary Session and Awards Ceremony will be held Wednesday, 16 May, at 2:30 p.m. in Convention Halls A+B+C at which the Acoustical Society of America and the Acoustical Society of China will present awards. The Acoustical Society of China (ASC) will present the Dah-You Maa Acoustical Award of ASC and an Honorary Membership in ASC. The Acoustical Society of America will present the R. Bruce Lindsay Award, the Silver Medal in Engineering Acoustics, Honorary Fellowship, and the Gold Medal. Certificates will be presented to the Fellows elected at the San Diego meeting of the Acoustical Society of America.
CONFERENCE BANQUET (16 May 2012)
The conference banquet will be held on Wednesday, 16 May, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the world-renowned Jumbo Floating Restaurant in Aberdeen in the southern part of Hong Kong Island. The banquet will be a round-table style Chinese cruise at USD100 per person. A limited number of tickets are available and must be purchased on-site at the registration desk by Wednesday afternoon, 16 May, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Round trip transportation between the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and the restaurant in Aberdeen will be provided. Details will be included in registration packages.
CLOSING CEREMONY (18 May 2012)
The Closing Ceremony will be held on Friday, 18 May, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Convention Halls B with closing remarks by the chairs of the four organizing organizations. The host of WESPAC XII will be announced. Promotion opportunities for upcoming future international acoustical and noise control congresses such as InterNoise 2014 will also be scheduled.
